Ryan Monolopolus is a narrative director and a SAG-AFTRA performer. He specializes in action, drama and comedy-based productions. Born in Buffalo, NY, Ryan began making films in childhood which led him to pursue an international career in filmmaking, where he has created productions from Atlanta to NY, LA to Berlin. Ryan is best known for his action saga ALPHA (2017), the civil war epic Shenandoah (2017) and his work with puppetry including Before Christmas (2013) and Friends to the End (2017). In 2010 he helped launch Let Them Have Their Way (2015), the largest independently financed film to be shot in Buffalo, NY. He released his first feature documentary Recovery (2014) on traumatic brain injury, which received worldwide distribution. To date Ryan has directed and produced several features, episodic series and short films. His commercial work had been nationally broadcast with clients including The Humane Society, Mercy Flight, HP, YellowPages, World.org and the PGA Tour. In 2013 Ryan's short, Before Christmas (2013), won six awards at the Holiday 48 Hour Film Festival in NY, where he was awarded Best Director. In 2016 he co-created the TV series 64/8, which streamed on Amazon Studios. In 2017 Ryan was nominated for the rising star award at the Georgia Entertainment Gala for his directing work. As an actor and stunt performer, Ryan joined SAG-AFTRA in summer 2015 after starring in several productions such as Vigilante (2015), 64/8 (2016), MacGyver (2017) and the Originals (2016). As a lifelong martial artist, Ryan competed on the United States Sports Martial Arts team winning several World Titles.
