Akende Munalula

Born and raised in Zambia, Akende Munalula relocated to California in 2012 to attend the prestigious Stella Adler Academy of Acting from 2012 to 2014. One year into his studies of the Adler technique, Akende was awarded a scholarship by the school for the remainder of his two year conservatory in recognition of his hard work and dedication. Soon after graduating in 2014, Akende began to pursue acting full time. With roles in mostly independent productions, Akende quickly begun to carve out a strong resume with his exceptional talent and ability on screen. His insistence on truthfulness led to his first recurring role in a series in 2016, which came in the Walt Bost created and directed series 'The New 30' (now on YouTube). Akende's grounded and realistic performance as Kelvin, a gay man living with his ex, won the actor many new fans. Soon afterwards in 2017, Akende went on to star in the critically acclaimed STARZ Network series COUNTERPART, created by Justin Marks and starring Oscar winner JK Simmons. Also in 2017, Akende was cast in the role of Calvin in the Tyler Perry and Lionsgate film 'Tyler Perry's Boo 2: A Madea Halloween', which was a huge box office hit and was America's number 1 movie for several weeks.
