Jacqueline Geurts (aka Jacky Geurts) was born in Hamilton, New Zealand, but moved to Auckland to attend Auckland University where she graduated in a Post-graduate Diploma in Marine Biology and Conservation Ecology. She then transferred to Massey University and completed her Masters Degree in Marine biology graduating with first class honors. After graduation Jacqueline continued to work in Marine Conservation and began studying acting and presenting. Inital roles included short films, theatre shows such as 'Blithe Spirit', live theatrical performances and Indi films such as 'Destina' and 'Urban Turban'. After a few years Jacqueline changed careers and became a freelance performer during which time she began working for Co. Physical Theatre, which required her to train in adagio acrobatics for shows. Her natural ability to teach also landed her a teaching role for The Performance Net teaching dance, drama and musical theatre which evolved into a larger role as she would choreograph routines for shows, write scripts and design the shows. It was no surprise that she was drawn to the physical nature of performance as her love of sports started at a young age where she excelled in the sporting arena which was diverse. Jacqueline still enjoys a range of activities from scuba diving, horse riding, martial arts, swimming, and gymnastics. Using her physical ability Jacqueline began training in ITF Taekwon-Do grading in her first Dan 3 years later, and second Dan 4 years later grading with a distinction. Her talent didn't stop there, as she also trailed for the NZ team shortly after and represented the country at the ITF World Champs in Italy 2015, and at World Cup in Hungary 2016 winning Bronze in her individual patterns division. Her love of martial arts has lead to training in Chin Woo Wushu, Balintawak Arnis stick fighting, Boxing and Jui Jitsu. Her ability to act and perform, combined with her body awareness transferred well to the physical side of film work and naturally lent her hand to stunts.
