Daniel was born in Hong Kong in 1981 and grew up in Brisbane, Australia. Upon graduating from a Business Communications degree at Griffith University, he directed his first English film 'Half Lit', a neo noir comedy about two brothers accidentally breaking into the house of a serial killer. It was hailed by critic Dr. Stephen Sze Man Hung (Chairman of H.K. Film Critic's Association & one time C.E.O. of the H.K. Liberal Party) as 'a relentless and uncompromising vision', labeling Chan as 'a rising filmmaker to watch.' 2003, he was invited by internationally acclaimed director Stanley Kwan Kam Pang (Lan Yu, 2001) to join Kwan's Creative Workshop. He will soon associate produce Kwan's $40 million HKD production 'The Green Mansion'. 2005, Eric Tsang Chi Wai, the maverick producer who brought Peter Ho Sun Chan (Perhaps Love, 2005) & the Pang Brothers (The Eye, 2001) to international stardom, signed Daniel to write & direct the epic gangster film 'Jiang Hu Yi'. Budgeted at $30 million HKD, it will be the most expensive film in Hong Kong history to be made by a director under 25 years old. The project is currently in pre-production. 2006, Chan formed his own production company Chance Pictures and joins forces with award winning animation team 'Dajoint' to develop the $100 million HKD C.G. laden feature 'The Battle of Hong Kong". Chan is currently seeking financiers for the project. 2006, "The Battle of Hong Kong Trilogy Part 1" was selected as 1 of 16 films in competition at the 2006 Taiwan Film and TV Project Promotion.
