Amy Edwards graduated from Lynchburg College in 1999 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in two areas: French and Business Management. Amy participated in indoor and outdoor track and field as a student. Amy quickly made her impact on LC athletics. After competing for only a year, Amy set school records, many of which have yet to be challenged, changed, or contested. Amy participated in indoor and outdoor track and field in 1996. In 1996, Amy received All-American recognition for her performance in indoor track and field, and was recognized as an ODAC champion for three separate events. She received trifecta ODAC recognition in outdoor track and field as well, and was named the ODAC Athlete of the Year. Her long jump distance ranked her as an NCAA qualifier, and she was the number one long jumper in the nation that year, going into the outdoor championships. Amy's career in track and field was cut short at a rainy meet in Chicago, but her impact on the program stands firmly. She set, and still holds, the LC record for the outdoor long jump and triple jump and for the indoor triple jump. Amy's record sits in third for all-time long jump distance for indoor track and field. Amy's involvement at LC extended beyond her experience as an athlete. Amy was also involved with the Summer Transitions Program, was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa (leadership honor society), Delta Sigma Pi (business fraternity), and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.. After graduating from LC, Amy worked in the Admissions Office until 2005.
