Katie Barber may be the only comedian ever to make her comedy debut in a beauty --uh-- scholarship pageant. After discovering that she loved comedy, she began her education at DSI Comedy Theater, being taught by Zach Ward, Zannie Gunn and Paula Pazderka. She has also trained with Anthony LeBlanc (Second City), Jon Gemberling (UCB), Will Luera (ImprovBoston), and Alison Royer (Improv Asylum). During her time as a company member at DSI, Katie was a writer/performer for DSI Witness News and performed in Improv Slam. Katie is currently available for acting, voice work and writing gigs. She also enjoys taking on dramatic roles. In her spare time she writes and produces shorts; most recently "The MacGruber Diaries", which was voted a Top 10 Video by the Tongal community for Tongal's MacGruber contest and a film for the 48-Hour Film Project. Before performing stand-up as her talent in the 2005 Miss Rockingham County pageant, Katie participated in local theater and church productions in her hometowns of Greensboro & Reidsville, NC. She has studied under acting coach Deborah Kintzing and has done crowd work for the feature films "Eddie" and "National Lampoon's Pucked" and the NBC drama "Surface". Most recently she was an extra for the new Melissa McCarthy and Susan Sarandon film, "Tammy" and also worked as a background artist for "Eastbound & Down" . Outside of acting and comedy, she is passionate about animal welfare and considers her faith, family, friends and animals the most important things in her life. Katie's secret ambition is to become a princess. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Katie Barber
