Erick Betancourt Actor/Writer was born in the Bronx. At an early age his family moved to Providence, Rhode Island where he split his childhood and adolescence years between the Bronx and Providence, Rhode Island. He was first introduced to theater in 1997 watching a production of A Christmas Carol at Trinity Repertory Company in Providence. Although for the next several years he viewed plenty productions at Trinity Repertory Company, along with many more in NYC, it would be quite a few more years until he seized the stage himself and began his acting training. At the age of 26 Erick stepped foot into a production of House of Death written by Bruce Riley, staged at the Perishable Theatre in Providence. While Erick was now embarking on his passion for the Arts and cultivating his craft he started his journey of Acting classes at Trinity Rep, GAMM Theater, Mixed Magic, Black Box Theatre, along with his formal education that lasted 9 consecutive years starting with the Community College of Rhode Island. During his studies at the Community College of Rhode Island, Virginia Tech suffered a shocking loss that semester known as the Virginia Tech Shooting, and as an advocate for Nonviolence, Erick founded a Nonviolence Club on campus petitioning professors, campus police and students to exercise Nonviolence teachings on and off campus. Later that same year he received a Nonviolence Training Certification by Dr. Bernard Lafayette, Jr. And soon after transferring to a 4 year college and while earning his BFA in Acting from The University of Rhode Island, he minored in Nonviolence Peace Studies graduating Magna Cum Laude. In 2012 he was honored with an undergraduate Student Excellence Award in Leadership and Service. And In 2013 he was the honorary guest speaker for the high school graduating class at the Rhode Island Juvenile Detention Center. Upon receiving his BFA he returned to NYC to receive his MFA in Acting at The Actors Studio Drama School, Pace University. Erick appeared in several plays while at The Actors Studio Drama School and attended many live recordings of Inside the Actors Studio, Bravo Network Show hosted by James Lipton, whom he also had the pleasure to perform in front of on numerous occasions.
