Curiosity and her love for film and TV led Sylvia Stewart to an open call for background performers in her final year of high school. Currently a triple union carded (SAG-AFTRA, ACTRA, UDA) multidisciplinary artist, Sylvia continues to learn and grow to be of benefit to the business. In 1997, the former gymnast (intensive practice from 6 years old) was given an opportunity to use her physical talent by Hollywood stunt coordinator Jeffrey J. Dashnaw on the series Soldier of Fortune, Inc. (1997). A combined lust for action and a want to communicate through such a powerful medium as film and TV led to more opportunities as an actress (alongside Vanessa Williams and Wesley Snipes) and as a stunt double (The Day After Tomorrow (2004), Helix (2014)) etc. After a slew of acting classes with different teachers, Ms. Stewart has benefited greatly from her experience at Carter Thor East (now Straeon Acting Studios) run by Jock MacDonald (2 years of study). She has had the pleasure of working on projects led by visionary directors, most notably, Yves Simoneau, Roland Emmerich, Steven A. Adelson, François Girard, Jim Kaufman, Kari Skogland, Christian Duguay, Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Darren Aronofsky amongst others. Ms. Stewart enjoys writing, developing and directing her own documentary and live action short films/music videos. Her music video for her song, Despite You (2014) , was a Music Video Category Winner at the 2014 Original iPhone Film festival and is currently displayed on the Filmic Pro website. Sylvia has a facility for live improv, stand-up comedy, drama and the stamina for the lengthy work hours required to complete a film project. Seeking to be of benefit to her local artistic community, Sylvia is the admin of her Facebook group, Stewart Creative Group. This group shares public, local casting information, relevant articles about international creatives and acts as a showcase for local artistic endeavours. Ms. Stewart presently serves on ACTRA Montreal council (2018 - 2020) and is Chair of the ACTRA Montreal Diversity and Inclusion Committee and sits on the ACTRA Montreal Stunt committee. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Olivia Smith
