Gino Terrell is an American journalist, actor and filmmaker. As an actor, he's known for his roles as Jamar in DROELOE's music video "Only Be Me" and ROC in "Club City." Terrell is the founder of Dangerous Pictures where he made his directorial debut while acting, editing and executive producing award winning short film "Club City." Born in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota he was later raised in Maple Grove, Minnesota. The private college graduate from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota (the state's oldest university) he's best known as an award-winning collegiate journalist sensation. In 2017 he was named the National Association of Black Journalists Student Journalist of the Year becoming the first male student from a Midwest College to receive the honor and the first from Minnesota. He covered sports for three years at the campus weekly student-run newspaper The Oracle, even during the papers 150-year anniversary, before creating a new campus magazine titled Pipers In-Depth his senior year which is why he won the 2017 NABJ special honor. The magazine went on to receive 21 awards under his leadership on a school, state, regional and national level, also named the 2016 Associated Collegiate Press Best of Show 4th Place Less Than Weekly Publication in the Best of Midwest Newspaper convention after its debut issue. Terrell accumulated 37 college journalism awards (18 wins, 19 finalists) across five publications for his reporting and photography, notably from Associated Collegiate Press, National Association of Black Journalists and Society of Professional Journalists. He done so all while employed as a student worker at Hamline School of Business and as a freelance reporter for two popular online nonprofit publications in Twin Cities Daily Planet and MinnPost, both professional news organizations based in Minneapolis. As an intern he landed bylines online at Hubbard Broadcasting, Inc. KSTP TV (Minneapolis ABC News affiliate) and St. Paul's number one newspaper Pioneer Press, accumulating 51 bylines (one shared) as a news intern. He also landed internships with national campaign AdoptAClassroom.org that was endorsed by musician Sheryl Crow, American Public Media Group, Hamline Midway Elders and Thomson Reuters. Fall 2015 Terrell, along with two other students, graced the cover of Hamline Magazine (Vol. 112, Iss. 2) alongside the university's newly elected President Dr. Fayneese Miller. Inside the magazine Terrell was photographed in two additional photos. This wasn't the first time Terrell posed as a model, at age three he was named a Minnesota Kids Portrait Contest Semifinalist. In 2017, things began to shift for Terrell as doors to continue his journalism career began to close. Terrell would pivot by becoming a game day entertainer for both the MLB's Minnesota Twins and NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves as a member of the Action Pack and Rally Team, respectively. That year, Terrell booked his first acting role in a feature film and two more would follow that summer. Since then, Terrell has continued acting and working as a crew member in several films and commercials in the greater Twin Cities area. Terrell is notably featured in commercials for Black Bear Casino Resort (2018) and Randy's Electric (2019). Terrell stars as Jamar in DROELOE's "Only Be Me" (2018) music video, a video that eclipsed over a million views. He also had a cameo in "Parades," a music video by Longshot and Lazerbeak. Despite limited journalism opportunities since 2017, Terrell continued to freelance where he could. He finished second place for Best Celebrity Feature in the LA Press Club's 2019 SoCal Journalism Awards for an interview story he wrote on celebrity hairstylist Kim Kimble, then WE tv's star on "LA Hair." In 2018, Terrell was a finalist for two National Arts & Entertainment Awards via LA Press Club: Best Action Photo (where Terrell published a photo of Demi Lovato during her "Tell Me You Love Me" tour through the City Pages) and Best Celebrity Feature (an interview article Terrell published covering the career of Cindy Margolis). December 2019, Terrell becomes the founder of Dangerous Pictures. The film production's name stems from Terrell's signature social media hashtag #GTthatsDangerous. His older brother is comedian, national published photographer and award winning screen writer Mario Terrell II. The two collaborated on Club City (2020).
