Originally hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Emily Siobhan McCourt is an actor, director, and producer whose mandate is to bring women and minorities to screens around the world. She is spurred by her drive to create, and developed a well-honed talent that spans comedy (Kim's Convenience (2016)), historical (Murdoch Mysteries (2008)), drama (Jupiter's Legacy) and much in between. Her family moved often while in Canada, and even spent a year living in Ireland so that Emily and her siblings would be closer with their Irish family. She assumed she would go into genetics as a teen, as most of her immediate and extended family worked in either science or business. It was only after working with a youth theatre company (of which one of the founding members was Brendan Meyer ) that she discovered her identity as an actor. After graduating with distinction from theatre school in Alberta, she performed both as an actor and as an accomplished fiddle player across Canada. She discovered her passion for screen acting when she auditioned and was cast in her first feature film; the first film role she ever auditioned for. She has created with Ariadne Deibert for their joint Youtube channel 5 Minutes You'll Never Get Back, and works to promote gender diversity with her production company Vicarious Playground Productions.
