Lara-Lyn was born and raised in the capital city of Namibia, Windhoek, to mother Lynne Jacobs and father Wilfred Paul Ahrens. During her early years Lara-Lyn always knew that she wanted to be an actress and storyteller. Lara-Lyn began her acting career when she enrolled at the University of Namibia (UNAM) for practical certificates in several subjects including acting, dance, voice & speech, movement studies and crafts. She completed two years at UNAM, passing all her modules with distinction and also won several awards for her outstanding work. From there she began her theatre career with plays such as Lysistrata, Cinderella, Night School, King Lear and many others. She also performed in an educational theatre group for over a year, which traveled to over 25 schools around Namibia, teaching children the importance of caring for animals and the environment. At the same time she began to pursue her career in film. Starting with small roles in short films and building her way up. In 2009 Lara-Lyn played the role of Isabel in Athol Fugard's 'My Children, My Africa' theatre production which later won her the Namibia Film and Theatre awards for best actress and best newcomer for 2010. Lara-Lyn was relentless in her pursuit of film roles and by the end of 2010 she had built her resume up by more than 10 films, including a German Docu-Drama, an interactive feature film, a comedy and a film-noir love story called 'Orange Juice'. Lara-Lyn also began working on films behind the scenes with producing, casting, writing, wardrobe & styling and continuity etc. Lara-Lyn is also an experienced ramp and photographic model, and has done make-up, hair, wardrobe and styling for many shoots and commercials. Keeping in shape and taking care of her instrument has always been a priority for Lara-Lyn which is why she achieved a 1st degree black belt in Kick-boxing, also winning a silver medal, and has been doing yoga for many years. The beginning of 2011 already shows promise for Lara-Lyn with writing screenplays and acting in local and international films already in the works, as well as further studies in film acting around the world.
