Stanley J. Sandford, better known as "Tiny" Sandford, was born in Iowa, U.S.A in 1894. He went into films in 1910 for Mack Sennett and joined Charles Chaplin in 1916 appearing in Der Graf (1916), The Immigrant (1915), and Charlie als Sträfling (1917). He later appeared in Chaplin's productions such as Goldrausch (1925), Der Zirkus (1928), Lichter der Großstadt - Eine Komödien-Romance als Pantomime (1931), Moderne Zeiten (1936), and Der große Diktator (1940). But most of all he was best known for his films with Laurel & Hardy such as Kavaliere für 24 Stunden (1927), Unschuldig hinter Gittern (1929), Hinter Schloß und Riegel (1931), and Dick und Doof - Die Doppelgänger (1936) to name a few. He was originally cast as the Sheriff in Dick und Doof im Wilden Westen (1937), but was later replaced by Stanley Fields. Despite making some films for Edgar Kennedy in 1940 he retired.
