Barclay DeVeau is a director, writer and producer of film, television and theatre based in Los Angeles and New York. Enthralled by the entertainment industry from a young age, DeVeau grew up acting in films, television and Broadway shows. As a child, she played Liza Minnelli's daughter in the Tony Award winning musical, The Rink, Drew Barrymore's best friend on the big screen, and appeared with Michelle Pfeiffer and Al Pacino in the classic film, Scarface. Renowned director Alan J. Pakula took DeVeau under his wing when he realized in her a passion for filmmaking that went beyond appearing in front of the camera. With the encouragement of this Academy Award nominee, DeVeau discovered the magic of lighting, lens choices, costume and production design, casting, editing, writing and directing. She began making her own films before she finished elementary school, and she hasn't looked back. DeVeau has contributed to scores of films, television shows and theatrical productions, including projects for 20th Century FOX, Universal, Disney and Paramount, among others. She has received several honors for her work, including two Emmy Awards, special recognition from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her contribution to the "Magic of Television", and a Sony Music Director's Award for her direction of "Taxi Ride". An activist and advocate for animal rights, women's rights and social justice causes, DeVeau has directed stage productions for numerous charitable organizations, including several theatrical pieces featuring Kathleen Turner for Take The Lead, an organization dedicated to achieving leadership parity, and most recently, a staged reading of 12 Angry Men as performed by 12 Impassioned Women, for the 12,000 Voices Initiative, which elevates women's voices and increases voter registration. This event raised money for several voting rights organizations, including The League of Women Voters, Voto Latino and When We all Vote. DeVeau has produced numerous features and tv shows and has served as 2nd unit director on several features. She is currently preparing to direct her first feature film. A graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall and the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, DeVeau is dedicated to raising the visibility of women in front of and behind the camera. - IMDb Mini Biography By: AR
