Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Judith grew up in Sullivan County in the heart of New York State's 'Borsht Belt.' Her first Hebrew teacher was the late Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach. From the age of eight she began an intense education in the world of music, art and theater, studying with Kenny Graham, band leader and orchestrator at the Nevele Hotel and water color artist Robert Longo. In her teens, Judith was invited to join the Mountaindale Playhouse - a professional summer stock repertory musical theatre-in-the-round. Ten shows in ten weeks, Judith performed in several productions but her true passion was working 'behind the scenes.' She quickly moved into lighting, prop and set design and stage management. Her greatest and most joyful experience came as Assistant to Director/Producers, Bernie Barr and Jim McEvers. With Bernie as her mentor, Judy was able to study and observe first hand the art of bringing a musical production 'together' in all it's amazing aspects. During the seemingly never ending Vietnam War, Judith moved to Israel as a volunteer on Kibbutz Hulda, best known as the residence of the late Amos Oz. A civilian during the Yom Kippur War, Judith studied Art, Journalism, and Archaeology at the American College of Jerusalem where she received her B.F.A. Required to fulfill the mandatory army service, Judith served in 'Nahal' branch of the IDF spending her time on a newly established kibbutz in the Arava, along the border with Jordan. After the army, she focused on her artwork. An apprentice to sculptor Robbie Sharif, Judith continued painting and held her first solo exhibitions of her watercolors at "Galleria Ha'Ya'ar." She was commissioned to design and paint a series of murals for Kibbutz Hulda. Judith set off on her extensive travels and exhibited her watercolors in Amsterdam, Montreal, New York and Brighton & Hove. She landed solo exhibitions in London's Women's Art Alliance and New York's Catskill Art Society's Sullivan County Museum, Beck Gallery. She subsequently participated in the "British Royal Society of Women Artists Exhibition" at The Mall Galleries, The Mall, London. Settling in London and residing on her narrowboat in Little Venice, Judith prolifically sold and exhibited her watercolors. She received an invitation to work at the newly established Walker Books, a children's book publishing company. She worked alongside Sebastian Walker in his Islington home. The impressive list of illustrators and authors at the newly established children's book publishing company included: Margaret Lane, Marina Warner, Iris Murdoch, Barbara Firth, Bamber & Christina Gasgoigne, Lady Selina Hastings, Emanuel Schongut, David Knockels, Russell Hoban and Helen Oxenbury. Transitioning into Graphic Design, Judith credits award winning Amelia Edwards, founding Art Director, as one of her greatest mentors. A Sagittarius in love with adventure Judith traveled and worked in Paris, Montreal, Martinique, Las Vegas, New York, settling in Key West for the next several years. Sous chef at Marvin Paige's Claire Restaurant, she joined the local radio station FM107 as a broadcast news reporter. As the late Mayor of Key West Richard Heyman remarked, "you just jumped from the frying pan into the fire." After leaving Key West Judith met motion picture director, design, producer and cinematographer Armondo Linus Acosta. He invited Judith to attend the Venice Film Festival for the World Premiere screening of his independent motion picture, "Romeo.Juliet." Created and designed as a film-in-concert experience starring the British voice-over cast Dame Vanessa Redgrave, Robert Powell, Sir Ben Kingsley, Victor Spinetti, Francesca Annis, Quentin Crisp, Dame Maggie Smith and John Hurt, Judith joined the public relations team and assisted in their Academy Award Qualification and Nomination procedures in Los Angeles. Judith subsequently represented Mr Acosta in negotiations with Jeff Berg, Ed Limato, Gary Concoff, Paula Wagner, Jonathan Weisgal, Barry Hirsch, representatives from ICM, CAA, Warner Bros, Paramount Pictures, The Hollywood Bowl, The Kirov Orchestra, Lincoln Center, Disney Studios executives, ballet icon, Rudolf Nureyev, and Maestros Valery Gergiev and Lalo Schifrin. Returning to Jerusalem, Judith worked side by side with Lia van Leer founder of the Jerusalem Film Festival, Jerusalem Cinematheque and Israel Film Archives (Member of FIAF). As Executive Coordinator, Judith expanded their English language international public relations and press coverage. She was instrumental in bringing prominent motion picture industry professionals to Jerusalem including Roberto Benigni, Christopher Hampton, Kathleen Turner, Ettore Scola, Elia Suleiman, Bertrand Tavernier, Seymour Cassels, Bob Hoskins, Guiglielmo Biraghi, Jacques Dubrelle, Alan Rickman, Jeroen Krabbe and Ang Lee. Appointed Deputy Director of the World Tolerance Center in Jerusalem her main focus was on international marketing and public relations. "Understanding, coexistence and normalization will not succeed in the hands of morally corrupt politicians who prefer discord to harmony. The path of appreciation is through collective participation in creative artistic endeavors that bring beauty, joy and satisfaction into our lives." In between her Jerusalem gigs, Judith taught Film History and Appreciation at a Belgian private arts academy and produced the musical/theatrical review 'Aids in Africa' for the Ghent, Belgium "Medici Steps Gentsefest" summer celebrations. Returning to her love of musical theatre, Judith created "Chapeau Noir," an original musical production inspired by the Parisian Jazz Clubs of the 1930s and the famous Cotton Club. Workshop rehearsals with choreographer Chris Houston and Cirque du Soleil and former Celine Dion dancers were filmed. Judith's video creations have been screened at the Academy of Film and the Arts in Ghent, Belgium. The videos were the catalyst for Judith's next work - "Father Giri's Diary, A Pilgrim's Journey," a multi-media installation. Upon completing the text, Judith delved into the visuals to create "The Diary" a collection of 65 digital paintings that are incorporated into the motion picture "A Touch of Magic!" (pre-production). Since releasing in March 2021 a portion of her digital paintings to international juried competitions, her work has already been invited to 41 exhibitions, recipient of 30 awards and citations. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Catherine Courtney
