Derek James Trapp

Derek James Trapp was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on December 30th, 1992. When he was young he was very into skateboarding and lifting weights. He learned at an early age that the results you got in life are measured by the work you put in and that anything is possible with hard work, dedication, passion and a no quit attitude. Derek was always ambitious, driven and never followed the crowd growing up. After he graduated high school he didn't go out looking for a job like his friends, he went into business and became self employed. For multiple years he traveled frequently, was a public/ motivational speaker in 2 different companies and realized that he loved working for himself. He then used his public/ motivational speaking skills and got into the acting world after eventually wanting a change from the business world. Derek started off by doing acting workshops, audition workshops, acting firearm courses, acting in local films and his first time on a big film set was working with Keanu Reeves as a featured background performer on the movie Siberia. After this experience Derek fell in love with the industry and wanted to be on set as much as possible. Right after Siberia Derek was cast as an actor for 3 episodes for the television show I Knew My Murderer and 1 episode for the television show Killer Connections. After Derek was acting for a few months he was signed by an agent Blair St. Germaine, at Unlimited Talent Management. Since Derek was signed by Blair, he has had speaking roles in over 30 independent films, had an acting role in a feature thriller film, 30+ featured appearances in various movies/ television shows, various voice acting jobs, multiple commercials, various stunts and some stand in work. Less than 2 years into Derek's film career he was selected by a publisher of 2 magazines to be featured on the cover of both, with a 4-page article inside. Derek got an interview for this, got a professional photo-shoot done and was on the July issue of Neighbor's of East St Paul & Neighbor's Of West St Paul magazine, for July, 2018. During Derek's time in acting he was also very interested on what went on behind the scenes in movies and wanted to learn more and be involved. He started off by doing various crew positions for non-union & union productions such as continuity, set P.A, office P.A, wardrobe, talent wrangler, extras wrangler, trailer P.A, location P.A, casting, transport and Asst. Production Coordinator. Derek is now working in the film industry full time in front of the camera and behind the camera. He is learning more everyday, growing his knowledge, experience and resume in the film industry constantly. When Derek is not on set or in the production office working on movies he spends all his free time with his girlfriend, family, friends and loved ones. He believes that family is #1 and nothing is more important than that. His passions and interests are travelling, working out, scuba diving, underwater photography, swimming; fishing and going to tropical destinations were the weather is warm.
