A.W. "Tony" Scott began screenwriting after a successful career a consultant and venture capital investor in technology and internet/new media companies around the world, with multiple exits through IPOs and acquisitions. He attended and completed the UCLA Graduate School of Theater, Film & Television's Professional Screenwriting and Professional Writing for Television programs, and also studied Directing at UCLA. While attending UCLA Tony optioned two screenplays, and in 2013 his drama "At Last" was ranked in the Top 10 drama scripts on the Blacklist.com.. In 2015 his screenplay "Sentience" (originally titled "The House is Lonely") won the Advanced Screenplay Competition in UCLA's Professional Screenwriting Program. "Sentience" has received a commitment for full funding and is expected to go into production in 2019. Three more of Tony's screenplays have received commitments for funding, all of which are expected to move into pre-production/production in 2019. As a Director, in 2017 Tony directed two scenes for the Northwestern University Entertainment Alliance Showcase in Los Angeles, which were performed to sell-out crowds over two evenings. In 2018, Tony directed the proof-of concept reel for the unscripted docudrama television program "Going Pro", which a leading unscripted television production company is now negotiating to produce and sell to networks. in 2019, he directed the short "Together", which is in post-production. In 2014 Tony co-founded Broadvision, a film and television production company. Broadvision's first feature movie, "Grey Lady", produced in association with Beacon Pictures and starring Eric Dane and Natalie Zea, was released theatrically in 25 theaters in 12 major cities on April 28, 2017. Broadvision drove the theatrical release in the United States and China, with Lionsgate handling the rest of the world and the home entertainment markets. Drawing on his pre-entertainment industry background, Tony created and led the marketing for the April, 2017 twelve-city, twenty-five theater limited theatrical release of "Grey Lady". Exclusively utilizing social media, Tony's plan drove "Grey Lady" to be the highest performing new indie movie the week of its release, and Top 20 performer for Lionsgate the month of its home entertainment and international release. Born in New Orleans, Tony grew up in Mississippi and worked as a jazz/funk/R&B musician to help pay his way through college and grad school. In addition to his film school studies at UCLA, he has a B.A. from the University of Mississippi and a MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University. Residing in Los Angeles since 2012, Tony previously lived and worked in Beijing, Chicago, London, Napa, Silicon Valley and Tokyo.
