Kirk Caouette is a Canadian Film Director. A 23 year veteran of the film industry, Kirk is well known for his years of consummate professionalism. In 2017 the Canadian Film Industry awarded him the SAM PAYNE AWARD for HUMANITY and INTEGRITY. Kirk's skills as a main-unit Director are extraordinarily unique. Between 1998 - 2013, Kirk helped drive and push the boundaries of modern-day action, performing a key role on many of the biggest films of all time. His world-class action and fight choreography expertise, combined with his multi-award-winning skills as an actor, musician, and writer, gives him the insight and ability to build and oversee teams that can take on any project. He first established himself as a grass-roots filmmaker with his first feature film HIT 'N STRUM (2013). After 15 years in stunts, instead of making an action movie, he decided his first movie would be a musical. Defying all odds, Kirk wrote, directed, and played the lead character, and composed and performed all the music. And in a bold move, he chose to record all the music live on set. The film was celebrated across Canada, and after 9 weeks in select theaters, had garnered eleven industry awards and nominations. 80% of reviews were 4/5 stars. After Hit 'n Strum, his talents continued to mature when he collaborated with Grami Nominated Cellist, Tina Guo. Tina recently composed the theme song for WONDER WOMAN. In 2014, between her gigs with Hans Zimmer, Kirk and Tina wrote and performed an original Cello/Piano composition together on camera for Kirk's short film - THE DEVIL AND THE DANCER. Internationally, Kirk is known for co-writing the Chinese $100 Million mega-project feature film ASURA. Asura marks the official launch of a new era in Asian Cinema by being the first $100 million Mandarin film ever made. Although the film was mired in controversy on it's opening weekend, the film will be re-released in 2019. Kirk has strong ties to the Chinese film industry and he is looking forward to continuing to bridge the creative gap between the North American and Chinese film industries. Kirk's latest indie feature film is called PROMISE LAND -- a dark and intense action/thriller. Kirk again wrote, directed, and stars in the upcoming film. Promise Land took a stunt team of nearly one hundred men and women, four months of fight choreography, and two years to shoot and edit. During production, Kirk built an incredible team around him and was given the chance to work with some of the most skilled actors and technicians in the country. Promise land will be released into the festival circuit in early 2019. Kirk is a Canadian citizen and is based in Vancouver. Trivia: Kirk is the only person in the film industry to ever be nominated by UBCP/ACTRA for best actor and best stuntman at the same time. UBCP/ACTRA has 6000 working members. - IMDb Mini Biography By: Shannon Pratt
