Christie Black is from Newport News, Virginia. She grew up in Europe and was born in Las Vegas, Nevada. Both of her parents served in the United States Air Force. She began acting and modeling at an early age. While living in Italy, she landed her first international campaign with United Colors of Benetton when she was 10 years old. Christie attended North Carolina State University on a Track and Field Scholarship. She competed in the heptathlon and pentathlon. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University.
