David Preston was born in Santa Monica, California to Harriet Newell, a Philadelphia-born writer, and Joel Preston, a Brooklyn-born film publicist. From his earliest memories of visiting with his dad on set, David knew he wanted to be an actor. His first teacher was Academy Award Nominated Actress Nina Foch. David went on to study with William Traylor and Peggy Feury at the Loft Studio. He landed his first TV gig as series regular Murph the Surf on The New Gidget (1986). David worked steadily for the next several years on television and film including the cult-favorite Max Headroom (1987) and Harold Becker's The Boost (1988) and also appeared in numerous commercials before taking some time away from the business to explore other creative interests. With a renewed sense of enthusiasm David returned to acting in 2010 and began studying with Jeffrey Marcus. Within the year he was on stage playing Carlson in John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men (2011) and Bob Ewell in To Kill A Mockingbird (2011) both to positive reviews... "David Preston's Carlson looks like he just stepped out of a vintage western from decades ago." - James Petrillo, L.A. Times and "The nasty and vindictive Bob Ewell (played by an enthusiastically villainous David Preston) sparks with a vicious energy." - Frances Baum Nicholson, Stage Struck Review. David continued honing his craft on stage creating diverse characters in theatre productions of Dennis Lehane's Coronado (2012), All The King's Men (2012), Valentine Triage (2013), Romeo & Juliet (2013), Rant! Part Deux (2014) and most recently Fugu (2017) in which he played the infamous SS Colonel Josef Albert Meisinger aka "The Butcher of Warsaw". On television, David most recently appeared on Hawaii Five-0 (2010) as Jack Teague on the action-packed episode Hawaii Five-0: Ke Kanaka I Ha'ule Mai Ka Lewa Mai (2018), as Agent Wilson on Syfy's Stormageddon (2015) and as Jeremy on Higher Power (2018) from producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. David has also starred in numerous short films including the interactive Virtual Morality (2014) playing Detective Clawson, the thriller Ambulance (2016) playing a jaded EMT, on Nightfall (2019) where he plays Jake, a man beat down by sadness and substance abuse, and the soon-to-be released Tidelands (2019) playing Conor, a terminally-ill man determined to die with dignity. - IMDb Mini Biography By: The Bodhi Group
