Matt was born in Waco, Texas and raised in the Oklahoma City area where he found himself easily bored and oft adrift throughout his early years. Many stunts, ill-advised adventures, fights, arrests, and even one short stint in state prison culminated in a road rage incident in which not everyone walked away. It was at that time that Matt decided to pursue a quieter life in Hollywood. He received a degree in theater from AADA and spent a year as a member of their theater company.
