Detroit, Michigan native Mandell Frazier is truly the epitome of a renaissance man who has thoroughly utilized his God-given talents to bless so many people. He's a SAG-AFTRA actor, producer, TV talk show host, on-air radio personality, musician, motivational speaker, humanitarian and a former fashion/runway model and celebrity personal trainer. Mandell has over 100 film/TV/commercial IMDb credits and is best known for portraying a wealthy homeowner on the prime time television soap opera drama Tyler Perry's "If Loving You Is Wrong" on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN). Mandell began acting at the age of ten performing in a very popular gospel stage play production written and directed by his mother (Dolores Frazier) who is a well-known and highly respected international missionary/evangelist and a fourteen-year breast cancer survivor. Mandell has trained at the prestigious Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), SAG-AFTRA Los Angeles Conservatory and the SAG Foundation. Mandell is the youngest of seven brothers and sisters and comes from a musical family. He grew up in church playing the percussions (i.e., bongos/congas). Mandell is a freelance musician who has played for Indiana State University's (ISU) Ebony Majestic choir, various churches, independent gospel artists, done live recordings, concerts, spot tours and performed in various drum circles/jam sessions throughout the country. Mandell has been featured in several major artists music videos including Selena Gomez ("The Heart Wants What It Wants"), Wiz Khalifa featuring Akon ("Let It Go") and Major Lazer featuring Terry Crews, Nick Kroll and Lauren London ("Scare Me"). In fact, Mandell's father (Herbert A. Frazier, Jr.) was a gifted drummer and his eldest brother (Zachary "Thundersticks" Frazier) was an accomplished musician and has played for renown artists Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Freda Payne, George Clinton & The Funkadelics, The Temptations, The Dramatics and others. Mandell's brother fertile music career also afforded him the opportunity to play on hit tunes and record with major record labels. In 2000, Mandell relocated to Atlanta, Georgia after signing a modeling contract for winning a "Model Search" contest in Chicago, Illinois. Although his modeling career in Atlanta was short-lived due to industry politics Mandell was a highly sought-after fashion, runway and underwear/swimsuit model. Mandell still dabbles in the modeling industry, most recently as a commercial model for TD Ameritrade national print campaign. Mandell also has a fitness background as a certified personal trainer, celebrity personal trainer and was once the fitness director for one of the largest health club chains in the U.S. In 2011, Mandell took his talents to Los Angeles, California and booked a new show on Nickelodeon's sister network NickMom titled "Undercover Cupid" as a group fitness instructor. In 2015, Mandell was asked to be an ambassador and guest speaker at President Barack Obama's Global Preparation Academy "Health and Wellness Event" in Los Angeles, California accompanied by then-NBA head coaches Byron Scott (Los Angeles Lakers), Lionel Hollins (Brooklyn Nets) and World Series Champion/MLB Hall of Famer Eric Davis (Cincinnati Reds) encouraging students to stay in school while incorporating a healthy lifestyle. In 2016, Mandell was invited again to be a guest speaker at President Barack Obama's "My Brother's Keeper" Festival at the newly renovated East Los Angeles Library in Los Angeles, California. Mandell's platform was "Faith, Fitness and Focus" and afterwards he was presented a "Certificate of Recognition" from County of Los Angeles Supervisor and former U.S. Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis. Mandell believes in giving back to the community and is a proud donor/supporter of Alexandria House (a non-profit transitional residence for women and children in need) and regularly volunteers in feeding the homeless at The Midnight Mission (a human services organization) on Skid Row. In addition, Mandell has partnered with the County of Los Angeles Public Library for several of their community events, served as the ambassador for the "All Sports Expo", has been the guest speaker at several high-profile events including the "Black College Expo", "Urban Network Digital Music Conference" and Holmes Early Education Center. Mandell has also been involved with the three-time WNBA World Champions Los Angeles Sparks, SAG Foundation, Motion Picture and Television Fund (MPTF), The Performing Arts for Life and Education Foundation (PALEF) and Women of Prominence. Mandell's humanitarian and philanthropic work has earned him the distinct honor of being the recipient of the Citril Starz "Humanitarian of the Year 2017" Award and also the recipient of the Naomi McCowan Ministries & The Universal Deliverance Church "Outstanding Christian Entertainer" Award for being a Christian celebrity in the entertainment industry while maintaining morals, ethics, values and a strong spiritual foundation. In 2017, Mandell created, produced and hosted a faith-based live TV talk show on WeHo TV titled "Mandell & Friends" based on his platform of "Faith, Fitness and Focus" and in 2018 Mandell became the co-host of the nationally syndicated popular radio show "Uncensored with Dr. J The Counselor" on iconic musical artist Stevie Wonder's KJLH 102.3-FM Los Angeles radio station.
