Born in New York City of Venezuelan parents while they were pursuing their doctorate degrees in their individual fields; his father is an M.D. and Biochemist, and his mother a retired Ambassador and International Law Attorney. He grew up between New York, Caracas, Bethesda and Washington D.C.
