Johnny Rey Diaz is an award-winning Latino actor/filmmaker from Tempe, AZ. He attended The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to work as a film development intern for Panay Films at Disney Studios. He transitioned into acting shortly after and has appeared in several network TV shows, including NCIS, Hawaii Five-0, Scorpion, Stitchers and as a recurring guest star on season 2 of Queen of the South on the USA network. His recent independent film work includes the award-winning indie film, "I Am Still Here," which has won several awards worldwide including "Best Feature" at the 2017 Nice International Film Festival in France. Johnny received several nominations and awards for his portrayal as the dark and disturbing lead antagonist in this film, winning a "Breakthrough Performance" Award at the Pasadena International Film Festival, "Best Lead Actor Award" at the Bare Bones Film Festival, "Best Actor" at the Peoples Film Festival in New York, "Best Actor" at the 2017 Indie Gathering Festival and "Best Actor" at the 2018 Beaufort International Film Festival. As a filmmaker he has written, produced and directed several award-winning films. His most recent short film, a dark comedy called "Papua," won "Best Comedy Short" at the Chandler Film Festival and awards at the Nevada International Film Festival and WorldFest Houston.
