Whether in television, film, theater, producing, writing or voice over acting, Carlton continues to cement himself as one of the most dynamic talents of his generation. Known for breathing humanity and dignity into often misunderstood characters, his television credits include ABC's "Castle", TNT's "Major Crimes", CBS' "Blue Bloods" and NBC's "Law & Order". His vast theater credits include Matthew Lopez's "The Legend of Georgia McBride" (Ensemble Theatre Company), August Wilson's "Two Trains Running" (Seattle Repertory Company/Arena Stage) and Dominique Morisseau's "Sunset Baby" (TheatreWorks). As a voice over artist, Byrd has worked on numerous campaigns including those for McDonalds, AT&T, Comcast, Kmart, and Verizon. He is best known for his award nominated work on Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series. Continuing to further his artistry, Carlton has extended his talents into the field of directing. In 2017, he directed and executive produced "Meat Puppet: The Filmed Experience", a streamed theatrical production aimed at raising money for the philanthropic group, Unusual Suspects, which "mentors, educates, and enriches underserved youth through the creation of collaborative, original theatre". Byrd was unanimously awarded the coveted Ron Howard Fellowship from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts where he received his BFA with a minor in Africana Studies.
