TShombi J. Basemore first knew he wanted to be a filmmaker after seeing Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing. He was involved in the arts by participating in the communications program at Fern Creek High School in Louisville, KY. He then went on to attend Morehead State University where he played football and studied journalism. He graduated from Morehead State in 2001 and then worked at local Fox News affiliate. While at WDRB Fox-41 News, Basemore attended a filmmaking workshop at the Idea Festival in Louisville, KY. He decided to start his own production company called Nu Life Filmz with the intent of producing indie films. In 2005, he directed the short film The Devil & I. In 2008, he then produced the documentary The Wake-Up Call, which highlighted violence in the African-American community. His latest short film is the movie Eight-Teen. Basemore is also a teacher at Fern Creek High School where he teaches filmmaking for grades 9-12. He enjoys teaching kids the craft that he has learned over the years.
